Mill Valley grad Skyler Windmiller was named his Kansas team's most valuable player after leading the team in passing in the 22nd annual Country Mart Kansas vs. Missouri All-Star Game on Thursday, but Missouri prevailed, 36-8, at Lee’s Summit (Mo.) North.
Windmiller, playing in perhaps his final game for a Kansas team, completed 12 of 20 passes for 129 yards and took more snaps than any Kansas quarterback.
Windmiller will report to Missouri Western State soon and was joined Thursday by former Mill Valley teammates Staton Rebeck (William Jewell) and Coleman McCann (Northern Colorado).
Rebeck was the second leading receiver on the Kansas team, catching three passes for 38 yards.
Missouri’s victory was its third straight in the series and never appeared in doubt on Thursday. Missouri opened a 22-0 lead before Kansas scored its only touchdown off a one-yard run by Blue Valley Southwest’s Aaron Ramsey with 1:30 left in the third quarter. Windmiller then found Blue Valley Southwest’s Anthony Miller in the end zone for a successful two-point conversion.
St. James Academy’s Chris Gomez also played Thursday as an offensive lineman.
Rebeck has one more summer all-star game on deck before playing college football. He’ll play in the July 27 Shrine Bowl at Washburn University in Topeka.
Congratulations to Coleman McCann, Skyler Windmiller, and Staton Rebeck on their selection to the 2013 Greater Kansas City Football Coaches Association Metro All-Star Game. They will represent the Kansas Squad on June 13, 2013. The game will be held at Lee's Summitt North High School. More details to come soon.
